Manchester City vs Birmingham Update Returning Players

Manchester City will carry on and monitor the fitness of players returning from COVID-19 self-isolation prior to Sunday's FA Cup clash with Birmingham City.
Ederson, Scott Carson, Tommy Doyle, Eric Garcia, Cole Palmer and Ferran Torres all missed the midweek conquer Manchester United because of the virus, whilst Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker were named about the bench for the first time since their recovery.

Guardiola says Ederson, Doyle and Torres could all resume training prior to the Birmingham game as long as they return negative tests, but whether Jesus and Walker are fit to get started on is dependent upon how ready they feel.

“Kyle and Gabriel went back about the bench for Old Trafford - we will have the way they react within the training sessions,” he said at his pre-match press conference.

“If Ederson, Ferran and Tommy Doyle are negative, maybe they will train on Saturday. Eric and Cole are isolating after testing positive.

“This is a mystery how those who test positive will react afterwards. For no reason know, every case is different.

“Some feel exhausted, some feel better. That's the reason you will need to see the way they feel after training sessions.

“Yet it is incredibly very good news they get home, there're healthy and they also can join the team again.”

Sergio Aguero remains in line in the first place against Birmingham. Together with his minutes being carefully managed, the Argentine striker has created just four substitute appearances since returning from injury in December.

However, Guardiola says we have seen encouraging signs in training that this Club's record goalscorer is reconciling to peak fitness and the man is expecting him to begin with Sunday.

“Yesterday he trained very well,” added Pep.

“Today i am off. If tomorrow he seamless comfort, he plays, yeah. His mood is preferable to ever, this is important. In the past a couple weeks, his reaction in the knee continues to be really good.

“He's going to start and his performance and his knee will dictate. We want good quality minutes.

"It's going to be great to have Sergio back and good condition. He is optimistic.

"He tells he wants an extra shot and score goals. For no reason put pressure, but the vast majority of games we'd like him because can be a striker."
